The Iron signed Goalkeeper from local team Bottesford Town back in August 2008 for an Undisclosed Fee.

However - it has since been rumoured that the fee was actually £3,000 and the guarantee of a Pre-Season friendly next year.

He has consistenly been 3rd choice for the Iron, although with Josh Lillis having been out on loan for almost all last season: he effectively acted as Murphy's deputy.

However, when the Irishman was injured for a considerable time, the Iron recalled Lillis: keeping Slocombe on the subs bench.

Sam is however expected to be Number 2 next season - with the Iron unlikely to replace the departing Joe Murphy.

He is also thought to have spent time with local rivals Lincoln City as a youngster before heading back to local team Bottesford Town.

And with Alan Knill having exercised their automatic extension option - he will be with the Iron for at least another year.

He has made 5 appearances for the Iron so far - including a start in the League Cup and substitute appearances against Port Vale, Blackpoool & Portsmouth respectively.
