The Iron signed the impressive Thompson back in July 2008 on a Free-Transfer from Morecambe.
He'd spent the previous 9 years with the Flyde Coast club & has been a virtual everpresent, when fit, for the Iron in the last 3 years.
However, an absolutely wickedly chronic groin problem - kept him out of virtually all of the Iron's 2010/2011 relegation season.
If recovered, he will be a welcome addition back to the Iron's squad - if not, the powerful attacker: who can play both on the right wing and up front if required: will be sorely missed.
