Laws Delighted To Keep Collins

Brian Laws has said that he believes Michael Collins will be a huge asset for Scunthorpe next season and he's thrilled he's signed a new deal.

Speaking to the Official Site the manager said that he'd enjoyed working with the midfielder and he's exactly the sort of calibre of player he wants to keep at the club because he knows he can help push us back up the leagues.

'He wants to repay the club for standing by him when he had his injury and to have him right down the spine of our team will create a real buzz around the place. I'm surprised that he's still here because we felt at one stage that we were going to lose him but I'm delighted at the same time.'

Laws adds that all credit has to go to Collins because he has taken a pay cut, like everyone else, to remain at the club but that speaks for his character.
