A Risk Worth Taking

Callum Kennedy's injury looks likely to give Eddie Nolan more of a chance in the coming weeks.

Kennedy's injury and Nolan being on "non-contract" terms leaves, or could leave, Scunthorpe short at the back.

Brian Laws, as he told The Scunthorpe Telegraph, knows it's a risk having Nolan on non-contract terms but will take the risk that another club could offer him something: 'We've got to be aware of the fact that Eddie could move on. At the moment I think Eddie is grateful he's been given an opportunity with us.

'If he does well and the opportunity comes along where someone makes him an offer, it puts us in a position where we`ve got to also make a decision.

'Until that time comes, we'll have to keep our fingers crossed and hope Eddie enjoys his spell here. Eddie is a good lad, I like him. But from a selfish point of view, we hope nothing happens.'

Nolan will be appreciative of the chance he was given by Laws but wouldn't be able to turn down the offer of a contract elsewhere, however given the fact that this hadn't come from anyone since his release last May you would think Scunthorpe are safe until the end of the season?
