Ironing out striker stay

Brian Laws, not for the first time, has expressed a desire to get Karl Hawley's contract extended with Scunthorpe.

Laws, as he told the official website, is hopeful that this will be the case by the weekend: 'We've agreed everything in principle so we're hoping to tie it all up before the weekend's out.'

The 30-year-old, who arrived in September on a short-term contract, will official become a free agent at the weekend if a new deal isn't signed before.
