Iron surrender a two-goal lead

Scunthorpe 2-2 Oldham
1st January 2013
15:00
Glanford Park

Scunthorpe looked on course to start 2013 with an important win, however they let a two-goal lead slip and had to make do with a draw against Oldham in the end.

The hosts thought they had opened the scoring early on, but the assistant ruled an effort not to have crossed the line.

However two goals in a mater of minutes soon after left Scunthorpe on complete control, they came from Niall Canavan (16) and Mark Duffy (19). Oldham reduced the deficit shortly past the half hour mark through Cliff Byrne (35).

Approaching the midway point of the second half Jose Baxter (65) drew Oldham level when he converted from the spot.

Minutes after equalising James Wesolowski was shown a red card for the visitors so they had to hang on for the 2-2 draw in the end.
