Brian Laws returns as Iron manager

Following the sacking of Alan Knill Scunthorpe have moved quickly to confirm the re-appointment of Brian Laws.

A statement, which came out via Scunthorpe's official Twitter feed, that confirmed the sacking of Knill also confirmed the return of Laws: 'Brian Laws has been appointed manager with effect from tomorrow (Tuesday, October 30) and he will be assisted by Russ Wilcox.

'(Coaches) Chris Brass and Neil Cutler have agreed to stay on and discuss their future with the new manager.

'The board are delighted that Brian has returned to our club and feel confident that he will be able to restore the confidence to our talented squad of players and look forward to progressing quickly towards a more secure position in the league.'

Laws' previous spell, which was between 1997 and 2006, was a highly successful one but his initial job will be to ensure The Iron remain in league one with his position set to be reviewed in the summer?
