'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Knill: I'm delighted with a point

Having taken an early lead at Oldham in midweek Scunthorpe weren't quite able to see the job through, like they did at the weekend.

In the end The Iron had to settle for a point in the 1-1 draw and Alan Knill was pretty content with this anyway: 'In the end, I'm delighted with a point because we knew Oldham would put us under pressure in the second half.'

The Scunthorpe boss knows it's "another step forward" but handed out particular praise for his new strike pairing.

Leon Clarke scored for a third successive game following his loan arrival from Charlton with Karl Hawley also causing problems since his arrival as a free agent: 'It's another step forward and our front two were a real handful.

'Their movement is so good and they have made a real difference. You can't ask for more than a goal per game from Leon.

'They are looking pretty good signings - we only had a certain amount of money to spend, but we spent it wisely.'

At this point in time these two certainly are looking "money well spent!"
