Leon Clarke, who recently arrived at Scunthorpe on loan, does not believe he has a future at his parent club Charlton.
The striker, as he told BBC Radio Humberside, doesn't feel he ever had "the opportunity" at Charlton he felt he deserved and doesn't see a future at The Valley: 'I don't think I have a future there.
'The manager said when I went there that if I got in and played well then the shirt was mine to keep but I don't think I've had the opportunity.'
When the chance to join The Iron on loan came about Clarke "jumped" at it, and marked his debut at the weekend with a goal in the draw against Sheffield United, the 27-year-old has previously played for Sheffield Wednesday.
As he gets fitter he feels he will get better but the move has "breathed some confidence" into him: 'I got a call from the Charlton manager on Thursday saying Scunthorpe were interested and I jumped at the chance.
'At any new club you want to hit the ground running and it breathed some confidence into me, which was nice.
'My match fitness isn't as high as I'd like it to be because I haven't played this season but hopefully I can train well and get in the team soon.'
If Clarke continues as he did on his debut, with a goal, then Scunthorpe will not go far wrong, but might face a battle to keep hold of him!
