Being "attacked by a squirrel" isn't something that you expect to read about but in a roundabout way that is what happened to Alan Knill recently.
Whilst this might sound humorous Knill, as he told BBC Radio Humberside, was worried about how serious it could have been for him: 'I got hit by a squirrel. I went over the top of my bike and landed on my head, shoulder and neck.
'I saw it run into the road but couldn't do anything about it and it just hit my wheel and stuck in my wheel and hit my brakes.
'For a minute, I thought I might have been in trouble because I landed on my head. Then, all of a sudden, I thought: 'I'm not, I'm alive!'
The poor start to the season that Scunthorpe have made has been "put into perspective" for him following this.
Struggling at the foot of the league one table isn't something that The Iron boss wants to be the case but he now knows this could be worse: 'Fortunately my collar bone is OK but I am pretty bruised. I could be dead and it's so stupid. I'm not and you have to put things into perspective.
'The situation we're in at the moment, I don't cherish, but there are worse situations.'
What became of the squirrel isn't known, but from the sounds of it I doubt very much if it is in a good way, if it even survived!
It's strange how things, seemingly trivial, could potentially cause so much trouble and can put things so much into perspective for you.
