10-men Scunthorpe beaten at Crawley

Result - Crawley 3-0 Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe kicked-off the 2012/13 league one season with a heavy defeat at Crawley, and also ended with 10-men.

Gary Alexander (33) gave the hosts Crawley a lead just before the half hour mark that was taken into the half time interval.

Alexander (64) struck again just after the hour mark, this time from the penalty spot, to extend the lead with Jonathan Forte (80) rounding off a 3-0 win late on.

Mark Duffy's sending off for a second bookable offence shortly before the end just compounded The Irons' misery on the opening day...

Crawley are a very good side but Alan Knill will be disappointed that his side were outplayed for so much of the game.

Despite this Scunthorpe still had chances to score so he will also be displeased with these wasted opportunities to have perhaps seen a different outcome?
