Whilst the permanent transfer window is now shut till January - and the loan window is not yet open, this has not stopped the Iron from being active in the market.
Although why they couldn't have done this when the window was still open is beyond even Vital Scunthorpe.
But nonetheless, it is nonetheless encouraging to see the Iron still working in the background to try and strengthen the squad.
Especially since the Iron are still yet to win a league game this season.
But even having Oli Johnson training with Scunny is unlikely to have them keep their 1st league clean sheet since March. And 1st ever one under Alan Knill in the league at all.
Yet with the Iron having failed to sign a striker towards the back end of the window, Johnson - even though he is still technically a Norwich player, would fit the bill perfectly.
Indeed - Paul Lambert's Norfolk Premier League side did transfer list the young forward following their promotion, and despite Knilly claiming they first expressed interest in him a while ago - this is the first conrete development in Johnson's summer.
The 23 year old started his career with those noted big-hitters Nostell Miners Welfare - an amateur team close to his home town of Wakefield.
But following a successful trial with infamous nutter Jim Gannon's Stockport County - he got his first taste of League action with the Greater Manchester club.
He then signed for the Canaries in January 2010 and has also spent a brief spell on loan at Yeovil Town.
Whilst his wages might be a problem, it's not expected Norwich would want a fee for him: despite the noted stubborness of professional Glaswegian of Paul Lambert.
Johnson featured for the reserves last night, and let's just hope he has a successful time with the Iron.
